ECS Stage 5 Big Brake kit for the Volkswagen MKIV, MKIII and Audi TT features the massive six piston Porsche Cayenne calipers, custom 358x32mm directional vaned rotor rings, lightweight 7075 aluminum rotor hats and caliper brackets.
Floating Discs
This brake conversion uses 2 piece brake discs, one of the major benefits of a 2 piece brake disc is its ability to allow the disc ring to float freely on the bell housing. On the race track it is easy to design a disc with this functionality; however a clanking loose disc ring driven on the street quickly looses its appeal. To overcome this ECS employ the use of a disc bobbin and conical spring washer. This allows the disc ring to float freely on the hat while spring tension from the washers holds the disc ring snuggly in place. The result is a true floating disc with out the ordinary side effects of rotor clank produced my high performance 2 piece track discs.
Weight Saving
You’ve spent big money for the lightest forged wheel on the market in an effort to reduce unsprung weight but you’re still using the overweight stock calipers and rotors! Even though the ECS Stage 5 kit is over 14 inches in diameter and uses a 6 piston caliper we have still reduced the total weight of the system by nearly 5% on the Audi TT.. This means less weight for the suspension to control while cornering, greatly improving handling and feel of the car.
Wheel Fitment
ECS knows that most customers have large wheels with tight clearance issues. That is why ECS have designed the Stage 5 brake kit to be as close inboard as possible to allow for most wheels to fit with out the need for spacers. However there is no way to know for sure, and with so many wheel brands on the market today, we recommend printing the following wheel template to check that your wheels will fit over your new Stage 5 brake kit.
